news fix for the weekend? Have I got a treat for you. We have no less than 5 breaking stories on the purveyor of slickly designed gadgets and computers, starting with some rather bullish comments from RBC analyst Mike Abramsky. According to Abramsky, he now expects the company to ship 3.04 million Macs in the September quarter - a 41% increase over the same quarter last year. The analyst also stated that "massive Mac sales [are] demonstrating resilience despite a sluggish consumer spending environment." According to Silicon Alley Insider, one of the factors that could drive this growth is Apple's back-to-school promotion offering a free iPod touch with qualifying Mac purchase.
But with the good, comes the bad. According to a Wired blog report, "Chinese authorities have blocked access to all eight million or so songs in the iTunes music store, apparently because of one album -- Songs for Tibet." In response to the "Great Firewall of China," an Apple spokesperson responded with, "We have no comment on the China question."
