We could have another front open up on the smart-phone wars as soon as next quarter. According to Silicon Alley Insider, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has approved the HTC Dream - the first phone to officially run Google's (GOOG: sentiment, chart, options) Android mobile operating system. Below is one of the many images circulating on the Internet of the Dream, though an official release has yet to be made available. Though SAI reports that the device will have the "jog ball" pictured below.

Looking for one of the fabled "GPhones?" You'll have to wait a little while longer, and you'll have to be a T-Mobile user. With the FCC's approval, T-Mobile can begin selling the phone any day now, though most accounts place the phone's release in the next quarter, but before November 10.
