By now, you have probably heard about Mac-clone maker Psystar and the wrath that Apple (AAPL: sentiment, chart, options) has unleashed against the company. For a quick recap, the Mac Daily News has a brief rundown of the situation, including a quote from Evan S. Benn of the Miami Herald that summarizes the lawsuit: "Attorneys for Apple are accusing Psystar Corp., owned by Rudy and Robert Pedraza, of copyright and trademark infringement and breach of contract for building and selling 'cloned' computers that run on Apple's Leopard operating system."

Apparently, Open Tech didn't take the hint, as the company has also announced that it will start producing its own Mac-clones. Tech Crunch IT reports that Open Tech will release their version soon, "with a starting price of $620 USD for a clone machine with about four times the power and storage of a similarly priced Mac mini." The somewhat amusing circumstance in this situation is that Open Tech appears to have prepared for the Apple invasion by setting up their company in the tiny offshore nation of Tokelau. However, Tech Crunch uncovered that the company's website is hosted in Germany, while the domain is registered in the Netherlands. A valiant effort, but I don't think it will be enough to stop Apple from rabidly gunning for this new startup.
