Throughout the session, the various automakers have been releasing their monthly sales results. Below I have listed some of the highlights.
General Motors (GM) announced a 18.2% decline in June U.S. light vehicle sales. Sales of cars slid 21.1% while trucks declined 16%.
Ford Motor (F) said its June U.S. sales fell 28.1%, pressured by poor truck sales. Ford reported that June U.S. truck sales fell 35.6%. Ford's popular F-series trucks suffered a 40.5% drop in June U.S. sales to 38,789 units from last year.
Daimler AG (DAI) posted a 12.9% increase in Smart car sales in June. Daimler said that June U.S. Mercedes-Benz sales were practically flat, down 0.1% to 19,576 units. In June, the company sold 2,545 Smart cars in the United States, after first introducing them in mid-January.
Honda Motor (HMC) reported June U.S. sales rose 1.1%. Total U.S. car sales rose 19.3%, while total U.S. truck sales dropped 24%.
Toyota Motor (TM) posted a 21.4% drop in June U.S. sales. Sales of passenger cars slid 9.4% while sales of trucks plunged 38.8% .
Volkswagen of America, a subsidiary of Germany's Volkswagen Ag , reported its June U.S. sales rose 0.3%. Sales of coupe-convertible Eos model increased 14% while Passat Wagons jumped 25.9%.
Porsche Cars North America said Tuesday its June U.S. sales fell 19%. June U.S. Cayenne sales fell slightly to 1,146 from 1,187 a year ago.
